Thank you for your interest in employment with the Sumter County Board of Commissioners. Please read the following information before completing your application.

Applications Procedures
Applicants must complete a Sumter County Board of Commissioners Application for Employment for each position. Please follow the instructions shown on the applications. All applications must be completed in full. Because the initial screening is based strictly on the completed application, it is important to include all information requested. A complete and accurate application is essential, since this is the primary source for determing your qualifications. Do not put "see resume" on any part of the application. The application should include not only paid work experience, but all other experience which may apply to the job, i.e., volunteer experience, professional training and relevant classes you have taken. If you need more space, please attach additional sheets.
To provide additional information a resume may be attached but does not take the place of the official Sumter County Application.

Job Requirement
The education and experience requirements for each position is outlined in the job announcement and job description. These represent the minimum qualifications applicants must meet to be considered for employment.
Application Review
A completed application must be submitted to the Human Resources Department by the advertised closing date. Once received, applications will be reviewed to ensure they meet the minimum qualifications. Note: Applications, resumes, letters of reference, etc., submitted become the property of Sumter County and cannot be returned. The information you provide on the application may be subject to public disclosure under the Georgia Open Records Act.
Selection Process
Every application received by the advertised closing date will be reviewed for completion and minimum qualifications by Human Resources. Qualified applications will be forwarded to the appropriate department for further consideration. Only selected candidates will be contacted to proceed with the interview process. Due to the high volume of applications received, we are unable to provide individual updates to all applicants. The timing of interview notifications may vary by department. Submitting an application does not guarantee an interview.
Interview Process
Department Directors or designated staff and the Human Resources Director will invite selected applicants to participate in an oral interview. Interview invitiations will be sent via phone or email of the scheduled interview date and time.
Once a final selection is made, all interviewed candidates will be notified of their application status via email or mail.
